UNDER 16- RYA SAILING STAGE 3 (2 DAYS)

Sail Smarter and More Confidently in Caernarfon!

Build your confidence and develop the skills needed to sail in different directions in moderate conditions, solving a variety of problems afloat and possibly an introduction to trying out different boats.

During the 2 days, you will look at more rigging and background theory to aid your sailing along with a focus on the core skills to build your confidence. You will improve your efficiency and control using the 5 essentials and introduce some sailing manoeuvres like “man overboard” and “coming alongside an anchored boat” to help your boat control and general seamanship skills. On top of all that we will make sure everyone can launch, land, sail on all points of sail, sail round a course and right your own boats from a capsize and be able to happily sail more independently. Usually, we get the chance to try some different boats throughout the week to build a more in depth and varied experience of sailing.

What’s included
Our friendly and experienced instructors will guide participants every step of the way, providing clear instruction, encouragement, and a positive learning environment.We will also provide all necessary personal protective clothing including wetsuits, waterproofs, buoyancy aids and helmets.

Highlights
The course will follow the RYA Stage 3 scheme and maybe more. Please note that whilst we work around bad weather where possible and endeavour to cover everything necessary, all certificates are issued depending on students reaching the required levels and having enough sea time to fulfil the course criteria.

Special requirements
Can show sailing skills on all points of sail. Tacking, gybing, ropework and collision avoidance, as well as boat and speed control. RYA Stage 2 or above
