At Plas Menai, we deliver accredited Rescue 3 International qualifications across the core operational disciplines of swiftwater, flood, and powered rescue boat response. Fully aligned with national emergency service frameworks, our training covers technician-level swiftwater intervention, flood rescue operations, and specialist boat handling.
Our focus extends beyond standard certification. We equip individuals and teams with the practical competence, critical decision-making skills, and operational resilience needed to work safely and decisively in demanding water environments.
Our flagship programmes include the Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT) and the Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Boat Operator (SFRBO), recognized benchmarks across statutory emergency services. Plas Menai is one of the select accredited centres in Wales delivering both the SFRBO and the Rescue Boat Operator (RBO) courses. Situated directly on the Menai Strait, our facility provides a natural tidal proving ground with complex, variable flows that closely reflect live operational deployments.
Our instructors bring decades of frontline emergency response experience, ensuring all tactical procedures, hazard assessments, and boat handling techniques are grounded in tested, real-world practice. We regularly train statutory services, including Fire and Rescue Services, Police specialist units, and Ambulance HART teams, alongside voluntary Search & Rescue organisations and commercial operators.
