Please note that the RYA Course Pack and Materials are not available through the medium of Welsh. The delivery of the classroom based THEORY courses is undertaken by freelance staff with specific knowledge on the topics. Should you require a translator for the course, please specify at the point of booking.

Basic first aid and subjects specific to boating which include; recovery position in a confined space, CPR including drowning protocol, cold shock and hypothermia from immersion and/or exposure, seasickness and dehydration, medical assistance or advice by VHF and helicopter rescue.

This certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. This includes both fixed and hand held equipment.

This course includes a practical session in the swimming pool, where you will get the opportunity to experience first-hand the problems of entering a liferaft and how to assist others, whilst fully kitted out in wet weather gear and a lifejacket.

The RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Theory course revisits, develops and builds upon the skills from the shore-based day skipper course. By the end of the week you should have advanced your theoretical knowledge sufficiently to skipper a yacht on coastal passages by day and night.

The RYA Day Skipper Theory course provides a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship. By the end of the week you should have the theoretical knowledge to skipper a small yacht in familiar waters by day.
