Providing an introduction to powerboating, techniques for launching and recovery, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment.
It is a great taster course into Powerboating, it’s also a perfect course for those children that go boating with their families to ensure they can take an active part of your outings afloat.
What’s included
Our friendly and experienced instructors will guide participants every step of the way, providing clear instruction, encouragement, and a positive learning environment.We will also provide all necessary personal protective clothing including wetsuits, waterproofs, buoyancy aids and helmets.

Highlights
This course is in effect a scaled down version of Level 2 focussing purely on the practical handling elements of Level 2. During the course almost all of the time is spent on the water practising manoeuvres but there is also time to look at the safety aspects of boating.
- Launching and Recovery (8 to 11-year olds to observe this session only)
- Preparation of boat and crew.
- Boat handling
- Propeller angle/immersion, use of shallow drive.
- Low speed handling, ahead and astern
- Steering, controls and windage
- Steer and control speed
- Start/stop engine
- Demonstrate the use of a killcoard at all times.
- Picking up a mooring.
- Leaving and coming alongside
- There are also theory elements to the course.
